The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Mental Health is a certified Advanced Care Provider with skills and education in the specialty of geriatric, adult or family mental health / psychiatric medicine. He / she provides comprehensive psychiatric care to residents. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for acute, episodic and chronic psychiatric management, which often includes but is not limited to the prescribing of medications and therapeutics, the ordering of diagnostics and interpreting results and making referrals outside the program when appropriate.
